Tuchel On Subbing Off Hudson_Odoi Last Saturday.
Thomas Tuchel on Saturday subbed off one of his best players so far after taking over from Frank Lampard, Callum Hudson _Odoi, just after 30 minutes on the pitch.
The player, Odoi, started from the bench as a substitute in their game against Southampton at St’s Mary’s Park last Saturday in a game which ended 1:1 at the end of the 90 minutes.
Odoi came on to sub Tammy Abraham, and he was unfortunately subbed off again with the manager thought, the player’s 30 minutes on the pitch failed to add any value to the team and did not play to instructions given.
Speaking at his press conference on Monday ahead of their Champions League encounter with Athletico Madrid, he said: “We decided to speak to Callum in front of the whole group not alone.
“For us it was not a big thing. I know it can be sometimes.
“Still I did it and we had the only reaction we wanted he went back to a good mood and trained well. This is the lesson for us to learn.”
I expect when we wear the Chelsea shirt we play to win and give 100%.
“Someday it’s better and someday not so good. It’s amazing and exciting to play Champions League games. We feel confident and focused.”
The manager insist that, this will not have any effect on his selection going into tomorrow’s game.
