One of the local call ups in the Ghana Premier league for the double header with South Africa and Sao Tomé in the Afcon qualifiers is Asante Kotoko talisman, Kwame Opoku.
Speaking to the mother of the attacker, Mercy Blankson, in an interview with Sir Ernest Ross on vision 1 explained she has always believed in her son’s dreams of featuring for the Black Stars. “I have always believed in my son’s dreams. My prayer is to see Kwame Opoku get to main stream Europe and play for Chelsea, the team he loves.” On her advice for parents whose children wants to pursue a career as a footballer she added, “I will advice every parent to have patience when their wards decide to play football and sometimes go away for long days and back them with prayers. Asamoah Gyan, John Paintsil and co started like this.” On Kwame Opoku’s Kotoko career she concluded, “I know Kwame Opoku will help Kotoko get far and achieve a lot with Kotoko especially in tomorrow’s game against ES Setif and go ahead to win the goal king in the Ghana Premier League.”
