Manchester City defeated Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday afternoon by 4 goals to 1 thanks to a dreadful afternoon display by Alisson in the goal post.
After trailing 1 nil after restart of the game, Liverpool came level through a Mohammed Salah penalty only for the joy to be cut short when a misplaced pass from Alisson in the 73rd minute gifted Ilkay Gundogan the chance to put the Cityzens in the lead.
As if this was not enough, Alisson’s day in the post went from bad to worse when he misplaced another pass 3 minutes later only for quick pouncing Bernardo Silva to lay a pass to Raheem Sterling who finishes calmly to double City’s lead to 3-1.
Alisson’s day was certainly over as was Liverpool’s slim hope of taking a point or all 3 from the game after his second successive error.
For the fourth goal of Man City in the game, Phil Foden cuts in on his left foot in the box a played a direct short on Alisson which everyone would expect him to save due to his pedigree as top goalkeeper, but to the dismay of everybody, he let the ball into the net over his head. This happened in the 83rd minute making it 3 errors from the goalkeeper in 10 minutes.
Alisson is the first Liverpool player to make 2+ errors leading to a goal in a Champions League or Premier League game since Loris Karius in the UCL final against Real Madrid.
Liverpool ended the day 4th in the premier league and 10 points behind Man City with a game in hand for the Cityzens. A dreadful title defence for the Champions.
