Court orders to clear the bank account of Owusu Bempah for Ibrahim Mahama Mahama

The National Investment Bank (NIB) has been directed by the Accra High Court to release all funds in the amount of GH 310,000.00 into an account owned by Ernest Owusu Bempah with the bank and pay Ibrahim Mahama the same amount.
But there are rumors that Ghana Gas Company Limited’s communications director has a little over GH 101, 000 in his accounts.
On 15 January 2021, as a judgment in absentia (default judgment), this judgment was administered by her worship, Justice Comfort K. Tasiame, when the garnishee refused to appear after being informed.

The Court released an order pursuant to an appeal lodged at the Court by Mr. Mahama’s counsel, Reindorf Twumasi Ankrah, urging the Court to force NIB to transfer to Mr. Ibrahim the funds kept in the account belonging to Owusu Bempah as payment of the judgment debt.

It should be noted that somewhere in 2018, the CEO of Engineers and Planners, Ibrahim Mahama, sued Ernest Owusu Bempah, along with the Despite Group of Firms, operators of UTV private television channel, for slander.

After a decision by a court presided over by Justice Georgina Mensah Datsa (High Court, Accra) in 2019, all the reliefs were issued except for the cost of GH 2 million awarded GH 300,000 by the judge.

Mr. Ernest Owusu Bempah sought to reverse the decision of High Justice Georgina Mensah-Datsa in an Appeals Court suit brought on Thursday, October 30, 2019. But it seems it didn’t work.

UTV was, however, pardoned by Ibrahim Mahama, with the fines waived after UTV apologised on all its channels on Thursday, October 15, 2020, and in return on Friday, October 16, 2020.
